June Employee Spotlight: James Bass

James Bass has been with MECO for over 30 years. He is currently in fabrication.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Every day is different.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

In a previous position, I was a forklift operator and I would say I enjoyed that position the most; but due to some restrictions, I can no longer be in that type of position.

What attracted you to MECO?

Job security, friends.

What advice would you give to someone new to MECO?

Come to work every day, do what you are supposed to do and treat everyone as you want to be treated.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Spend time with grandchildren, I have 15. We enjoy fishing, playing basketball and riding bikes. They all especially love my cooking.

What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you?

That I have a good business sense.

Do you have a hidden talent or hobby?

Basketball; I have a court in my yard.

What is your favorite food?

Salads, with chicken or tuna.

If you could travel to any state in the U.S., or any country, which state or country would that be?

Colorado. We go there every year to a cabin with some family members. It’s beautiful.
