HISTORY

HUMBLE BEGININGS
1907
MECO-Omaha, originally known as the Omaha Folding Machine Company, was founded in Omaha, Nebraska, over one hundred years ago, in 1907, to manufacture automatic attachable newspaper folding machines. We patented and successfully marketed a line of these machines nationwide for over fifty years, until they became obsolete.
As the demand for paper folding machines decreased, MECO discontinued their production and strategically redirected its efforts toward developing a product line with long-term, cross-industry relevance. This shift led to the launch of material handling and storage equipment, which remains the company's focus today.

STRATEGIC CHANGE
THE WIZARD
1924
In 1924, MECO Omaha introduced the WIZARD Barrel Lift and Stand, one of its earliest innovations. This versatile equipment was designed to assist with mixing, draining, moving, and storing drums, and quickly became one of the company's most popular products. The WIZARD’s durable construction and easy handling capabilities laid the foundation for MECO's reputation for providing high-quality industrial equipment.
THE MECO STAPLE
In 1986, MECO Omaha began producing Cantilever rack systems, marking a significant expansion in their material handling product line. This move allowed MECO to cater to the growing demand for efficient storage solutions for long, bulky, or irregularly shaped items such as lumber, pipes, and steel bars. By introducing Cantilever racks, MECO Omaha positioned itself as a key player in the industrial storage market, offering durable and customizable solutions tailored to warehouse and distribution needs.

In the 1980s and 1990s, MECO Omaha expanded its offerings to include a wider range of material handling solutions, such as hoppers, hand trucks, cantilever racks, drum dollies, and roll-out shelf racks. This diversification allowed the company to better serve various industries with durable and customizable products, solidifying its position as a leader in industrial equipment.
